An email from Sarah!

Hi everyone!!

This is Sarah! How are you? I cannot believe that it is already June, 2014 and you are about to finish school. It has been over two years since I left your school but I still think about each and every one of you very often. I am still living in Madrid but in two weeks I will travel home and officially move back to New York. I am so excited to be home with my friends and family, but it will be very hard leaving Spain!!

I have sent some photos to María to show you where I've been living and what I've been doing this year.

I want you to know that you are all very special and I hope you have great success at the end of this year!

Lots of love,
Sarah

Holiday Season in Jaén! (Message from Sarah!)

To everyone in 5th grade A:

Happy Holidays!! Merry Christmas, and Happy New Year! As you know, the holiday season is special all over the world. It's my favorite time of year!

I've been lucky to be living in Spain for the past two years and to have had the opportunity to see the decorations and traditions first in Sevilla last year and now this year in Jaén! I love the lights around the cities of course, but many of my favorite decorations are the arts and crafts projects that my students have made! Of course, I also love the letters that you guys sent from Sevilla. They are in our classroom here at school and they look fantastic!

Enjoy the pictures I've sent and I hope you have a wonderful winter vacation.

Big hugs and kisses, Sarah

Happy Halloween!

We had a terrific Halloween celebration at school today! First of all, we wrote letters to the students in CEIP José Plata in Mengíbar. We wrote about our costumes and drew some pictures. Our letters are ready to be sent now!

!

Later, we went to visit the students in kindergarten to sing our Halloween song. They loved it! We had to leave the school to visit the youngest students (different building). And we said "Happy Halloween" to people in town!

After the break, the students from 3rd and 4th grade came to our classroom and we sang and danced Halloween songs. We tricked-or-treated too!

Later, we played some Halloween games and... we got a lot of candy, ballons, bats and chocolates! It was great!

Before going home, we recorded a video with our Halloween song. Our lovely Sarah, this song is for you! Have a happy Halloween!

News from Sarah!

Sarah wants to share these amazing pictures of Jaén with you! Practise your reading skills and leave your comments!

Picture #1: On my first day in Jaén, Juan Antonio and his wife took me to the see the most beautiful sites in the city. The first place that we went was to the Santa Catalina castle that sits on the top of the hill that this city is tucked in to, but on the way, we had this amazing view of the cathedral!

Picture #2: When we finally made it up to the castle, we saw not only the castle itself, but this amazing and HUGE cross that is located right next to it.

Picture #3: Juan Antonio and his wife insisted on taking a picture of me with the city of Jaén behind me, and it came out very cool in fact! You can see the cathedral, the city, and the olive plantations in the background.

Picture #4: Jaén is even more beautiful at night. I love the view of the city from the castle at night; magical, no?

Picture #5: Here is a picture of the actual "lobby," or main entrance, to my school! It's very different from your school but it is a great place and they love learning English as well.

A farewell song

Alicia and Lucía invented this beautiful song for Sarah to sing it in her last day with us. You can read the lyrics of the song and watch the video.

Oh Sarah!
Tú eres como las mañanas se levantan,
y un nuevo día comienza contigo.
Eres magnífica.
Tu inglés es maravilloso.
Oh Sarah!
Gracias por estar con nosotros aquí.
Eres maravillosa,
y la forma de aprender inglés contigo es muy divertida.
Oh, Sarah!
Tus costumbres en New York son muy bonitas.
Tú eres increíble.
Muchas gracias por estar con todos.

Describing a special friend : Sarah

We are lucky to have an amazing friend in New York: Sarah Mirabile. She has been our conversation assistant this school year and we have learnt so much with her. We're really thankful for all that she did and we want her to know that she'll be always in our hearts. This is what the students in 4th A have to say about her.

Describing Sarah

Sarah is a special teacher for every student in our class. She is a very good teacher. Her games are cool!

Sarah is pretty, cool, happy and funny. She’s kind and friendly. Sarah is awesome!

Sarah likes polar bears but she doesn't like sharks or eating snails.

Sarah has got long wavy blond hair. She's got beautiful blue eyes. She's got a pretty smile. She is always smiling!

Sarah has got a black jacket and jeans. She's got a brown bag. She's got red shoes. She hasn't got glasses but she's holding sunglasses in her right hand. She hasn't got a scarf. Her left thumb is up as if she's playing seven up!

Sarah has got a lot of friends in San José de la Rinconada.

This photo is beautiful because Sarah is on it!
